KiJuan Ware, coach of the Green’s wide receivers, joined the Dartmouth staff in 2004 as assistant coach of defensive backs.
Ware graduated from Springfield College in 1997 with a B.S. degree in mathematics and computer science. In 2004, he received a M.Ed. degree from Springfield in physical education and athletic administration. At Springfield, Ware was a quarterback in football and a pitcher-first baseman in baseball. In 1994, the Pride went to the Division II College World Series.
After graduating from Springfield, Ware returned to his hometown, Hartford, Conn., and spent five years as a teacher and coach at Weaver High School. He was head teacher for the school’s Academy of Finance and, in 2000, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and studied in Japan.
Ware was also offensive coordinator of Weaver High’s football team and helped Weaver win Class L state championships in 1997 and 1999.
Ware returned to Springfield College in 2002 as an assistant coach and head coach of the junior varsity program. The Pride won Freedom Football Confrence titles in 2002 and 2003.
Ware won 11 letters as a three-sport standout at Hartford Pulbic High. He was an honorable mention all-state quarterback in football, a guard on Public’s Class LL state champion basketball team (27-0) in 1993, and a captain and all-state selection in baseball.
