Sam Horning enters his first season on Coach McLaughlin’s staff as the video coordinator. He will be responsible for all video aspects of the program.
Horning comes to Dartmouth from Bates College, where he was an assistant coach for the past three seasons. He was involved with all aspects of the program, constructing individual player workouts and preparing game cutups for film sessions, plus served as the recruiting coordinator. Furthermore, he organized travel arrangements, created team scouting reports and directed the program’s youth and elite camps.
During Horning’s time at Bates, he coached three 1,000-point scorers and two first team All-NESCAC players. He also assisted in helping the team reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history, making a run to the Division III Sweet 16 during the 2014-2015 season. Two players whom he coached are currently playing overseas.
Horning graduated from Nichols College in 2014 with a business administration degree in sport management and a minor in English. As a member of the men’s basketball team, he helped the team make their first Commonwealth Coast Conference championship appearance during his senior season averaging 10 points per game while connecting on 51 3-pointers.
