Bio
Senior (2016-17): As a senior, he went 8-6 in both singles and doubles … throughout the spring, he had a record of 4-2 in singles play and 3-4 in doubles … played at the No. 6 singles position and No. 3 doubles … picked up an Ivy win against Davey Roberts of Princeton on Feb. 19 … played most of his doubles matches with David Horneffer.
Junior (2015-16): All-Ivy Second Team (doubles) … had an overall record of 12-10 in singles and 19-9 in doubles … in dual matches, he went 8-5 in singles play and 15-8 in doubles … singles: played at the No. 4, 5 and 6 positions … had a seven-match unbeaten streak in February and March … at the NCAA Championship, he was tied at one-all in the third set when the match went unfinished … doubles: appeared at the No. 2 and 3 spots, mostly playing alongside Max Fliegner or Roko Glasnovic … had a six-match unbeaten streak in February.
Sophomore (2014-15): Opened the spring on a six-match winning streak at No. 6 singles, ending the year with a record of 8-6 … played at No. 2 doubles with either Brendan Tannenbaum or Chris Kipouras … had an overall mark of 7-6.
Freshman (2013-14): Went undefeated during his first year with the Big Green … in singles action, he had a 6-2, 6-4 victory in the No. 6 spot against Boston University … for doubles, he paired with Sam Todd to defeat the Terriers in the No. 3 position, 6-1.
Before Dartmouth: Max Schmidt attended Morristown-Beard School in Morristown, New Jersey…earned the school MVP award sophomore year and the Todd Barkly Sportsmanship award junior year…finished 6-0 at the New Mexico Regional Tournament and 4-3 at the National Championships at Kalamazoo in 2012.
Personal: Maximilian Richard Schmidt is the son of Rolf Schmidt and Gretchen Varga … has one brother.
