Sailing - Open & Women's
vs Regis Trophy
Why Dartmouth?
I fell in love with Dartmouth after visiting during the Spring of my senior year. The campus is beautiful, the academics are outstanding and all of the students I met seemed energetic and interesting.
How long have you been sailing and what got you interested in sailing?
I've been sailing since I was seven when my parents signed me up for summer sailing camp.
What Sailing or Academic achievements are you particularly proud of?
For the past few years I've been working to grow the ladies' race team at my summer yacht club. The summer after my senior year and my final summer in junior sailing, we had a stronger showing at regattas than we have in a very long time. Even as a small yacht club we were able to host our own team race regatta.
Tell us something interesting about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates.
After getting a parasite in Cambodia, I was almost quarantined in an airport in South Korea on the way home.
What are your future sailing and career plans?
I'm really excited to sail at a higher level than I ever have before and to keep improving at a sport I love. I'm not sure what I want to study yet, but I plan to follow the pre-med track and take a wide variety of classes before I have to decide on a major.
What sports or activities did you pursue in high school, and what do you hope to continue at Dartmouth?
In high school I played varsity tennis for four years and was heavily involved in a student political organization called the Junior State of America. I definitely hope to stay involved in political activism through clubs on campus and if I can find the time I would love to be able to play tennis occasionally.
