Hayley Stevens had a strong rookie season for the Big Green program, earning her first varsity letter.
She was Dartmouth's low scorer at the Princeton Invitational during the fall, posting rounds of 83-81--164. At the adidas Fall Invitational in Florida, she had a four-over par 76 during the second day of competition in the 54-hole tournament.
A three-sport athlete at Miramonte High School, Stevens also competed in soccer and volleyball. She was a member of the 2001 golf team that won the DFAL Championship as well as the 1999 volleyball squad that earned the same title.
Stevens spend the fall of 2000 at Bradenton (Fla.) Academy and the fall of 2002 at Saddlebrook (Fla.) Prep were she was a first team All-League selection. She was third at the regional championship and 18th in the state. At Miramonte, Stevens was the league tournament medalist and MVP. She qualified for the Junior World Championship held at Torrey Pines during the summer of 2002.
She is interested in majoring in psychology. Her sister, Whitney, graduated from Dartmouth in 2002 and was a varsity tennis player. Stevens' career best round is a 73 at Diablo Grande in Paterson, Calif.
Her favorite club is her pitching wedge, and she says, "I love hitting knock-down shots from around 100 yards out."
Stevens joins teammate Annie Daher and men's co-captain Kenan Yount in admiring Phil Mickelson. "I like his fearless style of play and his positive attitude. You can tell he loves the game and the competition it offers," said Stevens.
Her "dream" foursome includes Mickelson, Fred Couples and Nick Faldo while her favorite course is the old course at the Homestead Resort in Virginia.
