BOSTON, Mass.—Dartmouth women's golf competed in its second tournament of the season on Monday and Tuesday. The Big Green finished second as a team in the Red Bandana Invitational with a team score of +23. Dartmouth first-year Sophia Li won the tournament with a score of +1 in her first collegiate tournament.
Li came out firing in the first round as she had five birdies and just one bogey to finish -4 in the first round. The second round saw her shoot a 75 to hold the lead after the first two rounds. In the third round she shot a 74 to hold the top spot on the leaderboard. She finished the three rounds with a three-stroke lead on second place. Her first round 68 is the lowest first round in program history and tied for the second lowest score in program history. She is the first player in Dartmouth history to shoot -4 or better in a round.
Olivia Cong finished seventh with a score of +7. She opened the tournament with a +1 73 in the first round. In the second round she used a pair of birdies on the 12th and 15th to shoot a 74. In the final round she shot a +4 76 to secure a top 10 finish. It is the third time in her career that she has finished in the top 10.
Hope Hall finished tied for 11th with a score of +9. In the opening round she shot a 75 with birdies on five, 12, and 13. The second round saw her shooting par and having birdies on four, nine, 11, 13, and 18 to close out the round. On Tuesday, she shot a +6 78 while birding 18 to close the tournament.
Claire Wan finished 16th in her first collegiate tournament with a score of +11. After shooting +8 in the first round, she bounced back with a +2 74 in the second round. The third round saw Wan tally 15 pars and a one birdie on 16 for a +1 73.
Sophie Thai earned a top 25 finish with a +15 score in her second tournament of the year. In the first round she shot a 77 with a trio of birdies. The second round saw just one birdie and a 78. She closed out the tournament with her best round shooting a +4 76 with 14 pars.
Alissa Xu played as an individual and finished 28th with a +16. She opened the tournament with a +7 79 and followed it up with a +6 78. On Tuesday, she shot a +3 75 to close out her tournament with her best score.
Dartmouth now has the next 10 days off ahead of the Princeton Invitational. The Big Green travel to New Jersey on Saturday, Oct. 4 to take part in the two-day tournament at Springdale Golf Club.
