Li Cracks Top 10, Women's Golf Finishes Fourth at Yale Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Dartmouth women's golf team finished fourth out of eight teams at the Yale Invitational, which ran on Saturday, Oct. 3, and Sunday, Oct. 4.

The Big Green posted a three-round total of 895 strokes (+31), carding rounds of 304 (+16), 290 (+2), and 301 (+13). Dartmouth's second-round 290 was its best of the weekend and moved the Big Green into third place after 36 holes, four strokes ahead of host Yale. The Bulldogs answered with a final-round 284 (-4) to finish third at 882 (+18), 13 strokes ahead of Dartmouth. The Big Green finished 23 strokes clear of fifth-place Memphis, which tallied 918 strokes (+54). Boston College claimed the team title at 870 (+6), one stroke clear of runner-up Harvard (871, +7).

"I felt was a very productive weekend at a very tricky golf course that has several blind shots," said Alex Kirk, the Carolyn A. Pelzel '54a Head Coach of Women's Golf. "We led the field in Par 4 scoring. I am proud of the depth of DWG. Five players in top 18. We have some homework to improving our scoring on Par 5s. We will learn from this and get ready for Delaware."

Sophia Li paced Dartmouth with a top-10 finish, tying for eighth at 221 (+5). After opening with a 76 (+4), Li bounced back with a 1-under 71 in the second round before closing with a 74 (+2). She finished 11 strokes behind Harvard's co-medalists, Rayee Feng and Vanessa Zhang.

Samantha Harris and Claire Wan each tied for 12th at 226 (+10). Harris matched Li's second-round 71 (-1) after an opening 76 (+4), then closed with a 79 (+7). Wan was the model of consistency, posting rounds of 76 (+4), 74 (+2), and 76 (+4).

Angelina Tao and Olivia Cong each tied for 18th at 228 (+12). Tao carded rounds of 77 (+5), 74 (+2), and 77 (+5). Cong saved her best for last, closing with a 74 (+2) to match Li for the team's low score of the final round.

Lauren Pham rounded out the Dartmouth lineup, tying for 42nd at 238 (+22).

Competing as individuals, Alissa Xu tied for 35th at 235 (+19), and Amanda Adams tied for 49th at 247 (+31).
