2008-09: Saw action between the pipes in four starts ... earned a 3-0-2 record with a .917 save percentage and a 1.31 goals against average ... recorded first win of the season against Union in a 6-1 win, making eight saves ... made a season-high 18 stops against Colgate in a 7-2 win ... pushed aside 15 saves in her first collegiate tie vs. Quinnipiac in a 1-1 deadlock ... got third win of the year at Union with 15 saves ... saw action in the final 30 minutes against Clarkson and earned the tie in the 4-4 decision on Feb. 20.
2007-08: Earned six starts and posted a 5-1-0 record in her first season as the backup netminder ... first collegiate win came against Quinnipiac on Nov. 3 in an 8-1 win ... followed that with her first career shutout with a 2-0 win against Union on Nov. 30 ... posted another shutout with 20 saves in an 8-0 win over Cornell on Feb. 5 ... her most impressive game came in a 4-0 losing effort at Harvard as she made a career-high 39 saves with double-digit saves in each period ... her team-leading third shutout came in her final start of the season, making 22 saves in an 6-0 win over Quinnipiac on Feb.15 ... finished the regular season with a 1.11 goals against average and a .942 save percentage ... two-time member of the ECAC Hockey weekly honor roll.
2006-07: Saw her only action of the season on Jan. 5, in a game against Quinnipiac ... Made five stops in 40 minutes of play while not allowing a goal.
Before Dartmouth: In 2005 named Thames Valley Regional Athletic Association High School City Finals Most Valuable Player ... in 2006 named Co-MVP of High School team ... member of Chatham Jr. Outlaws of the Provincial Women’s Hockey League ... 2004 and 2005 City Finals (TVRAA) Champions ... attended Oakridge Secondary School ... named grade 12 athlete of the year ... also lettered in golf, rowing, track and field and cross country in high school.
Personal: Mariel Capewell Lacina was born on November 19, 1988 ... daughter of Jerry Lacina and Vivian Copewell ... has one sister ... majoring in engineering ... competed in club lacrosse for two seasons and club rugby for one at Dartmouth ... volunteers as a goalie coach for Lebanon (N.H.) High School girls' hockey ... has started a used-equipment redistribution program called Green Gear.
