Regan Scott, a 15-year professional player and former national team member, was hired as an assistant volleyball coach in June of 2022.
“I feel very fortunate to be joining the Dartmouth community and am honored to work with this special group of student-athletes,” Scott said. “This is an exciting opportunity to learn from an experienced coaching staff, and I’d like to thank [associate athletics director and volleyball sport administrator] Lori McBride and Coach Doron for the opportunity to begin my coaching career. It was clear during my interview process that they and the administration genuinely care about the campus, surrounding community and development of well-rounded student-athletes, and I’m eager to see what we can accomplish together.”
Scott played overseas from Spain to Azerbaijan during her career and just about everywhere in between. Beginning in The Netherlands in 2006, she played for Dok Dwingeloo for a season before spending the next year in Spain and three seasons in France with two different teams. Following her one year in Azerbaijan, Scott moved on to Romania, then served as team captain of Ilbank SK in Turkey in 2013-14. She had a short stint in Puerto Rico before returning to Turkey, then spending time in Poland and captaining teams in Indonesia and Turkey again. After action in Italy and Germany, she played for Olympiacos in Athens, Greece, from 2018-20 before wrapping up her playing career in Romania last year.
Scott also found time to compete with the U.S. National Team from 2011-14, helping the squad finish third at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara in 2011. There was also a fifth-place finish in the World Grand Prix, and she captained the team to a second-place showing in Mexico City in the Pan America Cup in June of 2014.
A 2006 graduate of LSU with a degree in kinesiology and a minor in sociology, Scott was a four-year letter winner for the Tigers and served as team captain in her junior and senior campaigns. An All-SEC second-team selection at outside hitter/middle blocker in 2003 and first-team All-Louisiana in her final two seasons, Scott is still sixth all-time at LSU in kills per set (3.31) and recorded 1,172 kills in her career. She was also named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in her final three seasons.
“It is my sincere pleasure to welcome Regan to the Dartmouth volleyball family,” Doron said. “Regan brings with her four years of USA National Team playing experience and a decade and a half as an international professional. Her leadership skills and playing experience are the perfect combination for developing and mentoring our student-athletes on and off the court.”
