NEW DIRECTOR OF BASKETBALL OPERATIONS AT DARTMOUTH
On May 11, 2026, head coach Brett MacConnell announced the addition of Courtney to the Dartmouth men's basketball staff as Director of Basketball Operations.
BEGINNINGS AT NOTRE DAME
Courtney began his career in basketball at his alma mater, the University of Notre Dame, where he served as a manager for the men's basketball program from 2019 to 2023. During his time with the Fighting Irish, he assisted in all aspects of team operations ranging from travel and equipment management to practice execution and film. Courtney was part of a Fighting Irish team that advanced to the second round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament and graduated from Notre Dame in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in business analytics.
GRADUATE ASSISTANT AT MIAMI
Courtney spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant with the University of Miami men's basketball team, continuing the same areas of focus defensive scouting, analytics and player development, that marked his time at Notre Dame. In 2025-26, the Hurricanes advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Courtney is completed his master's degree in sports administration at Miami.
BACKGROUND
A native of Ithaca, New York, Courtney has been part of programs on college basketball's biggest stage at both stops in his career, working with NCAA Tournament second-round teams at both Notre Dame (2022) and Miami (2026). Coaching runs in the family for Courtney; his father, Bill, was the head coach at Cornell from 2010-2016 and played a critical role in constructing the Miami team for its Final Four run in 2023. In addition, he served as an assistant coach at nine institutions including Virginia, Virginia Tech, Providence, DePaul and Temple.
