HANOVER, N.H. - Dartmouth freshman Mike Carmody held off a pack of Yale runners in the 800 meters as the Big Green men's track & field team grabbed second place in a tri-meet at Leverone Field House.
Yale won the meet with 81 points and Dartmouth was second with 67. Columbia scored 33 points.
Carmody posted a time of 1:53.27, more than two seconds ahead of a threesome of Elis who went 2-3-4.
Dartmouth sophomore Ian Marcus won the 3000 meters in 8:37.37 as Big Green senior Ross Tucker was the runner up in 8:45.39.
In the field events, Dartmouth took the top two spots in the long jump and weight throw. Senior Andrew Hall long jumped 21-5 1/2 and freshman Randy McKnight was second in 21-0 1/2. Seniors Mike Mozer (54-3 1/4) and Marcus Gregg (51-9) topped the 35 lb. weight.

In the shot put, the Big Green's Matt Brown, a senior, won with 51-7, while sophomore Rob Kerris (51-4 1/4) and Mozer (47-5 1/4) finished second and third, respectively.
Next weekend, Dartmouth (3-1) competes in Boston at the BU Terrier Classic and the adidas Indoor Classic.
On the women's side, junior Matthan Chatterton-Richmond won two events, helping Dartmouth down Yale and Columbia in a tightly contested meet at Leverone Field House.
Chatterton-Richmond was first in the long jump with 18-0 1/2 and also won the triple jump with 37-1 1/4.
Dartmouth totaled 63 points with Yale second at 60 1/2. Columbia was close behind with 57 1/5.
Big Green junior Kelsey Wiegmann led a one-two-three sweep in the high jump, clearing 5-6 on the fewest attempts. Senior Tessa Clare also jumped 5-6 for second place, and senior Beth Chambers was third with 5-2 1/4.
Freshman Victoria Michelotti won the 60 meter hurdles in 9.11, and sophomore Melissa Machaj was first in the 20 lb. weight at 45-9.
Next weekend, Dartmouth (4-0) competes in Boston at the BU Terrier Classic and the adidas Indoor Classic.
