Erie, Pa. -- Sophomore net minder Carli Clemis (Taber, Alta.) recorded 22 saves for the Big Green in a 1-0 loss to Mercyhurst today in Erie Pa. The win is the second of the weekend, as the Big Green fell to the Lakers yesterday 5-3.
At 7:54 in the second period, the Lakers broke a scoreless tie. Senior forward Jill Nugent gave Mercyhurst the eventual game-winner, when she took a pass from Lesley McArthur and beat Clemis.
The Big Green had five power play chances on the day, but couldn't convert on any of them. Junior net minder Laura Hosier stopped 19 Big Green chances to record her fifth victory of the season and first shut out.
Seniors Gillian Apps (Unionville, Ont.) and Cherie Piper (Scarborough, Ont.) led the Big Green in scoring chances recording nine shots between the two of them. Freshman Sarah Toupal (White Bear Lake, Minn.) also had a couple of opportunities for the Big Green.
Dartmouth will host Union and Rensselaer in its first two ECAC contests next weekend in its home opener at Thompson Arena.
