Box ScoreSHENECTADY, N.Y. - Four Dartmouth players scored as the women's hockey team defeated Union 4-0 this evening in Schenectady. The sweep is the first for the Big Green this season. With the win Dartmouth improves to 7-8-2, 4-5-1 in the ECACHL while Union falls to 3-15-1, 0-11-0 ECACHL.
Dartmouth took the lead when Maggie Kennedy potted her third goal of the season at 4:53 in the first. Dartmouth outshot the Dutchwomen 19-4 in the opening stanza.
The Big Green opened the floodgates in the final period of play as Danielle Grundy scored just 41 seconds into the third. Meredith Batcheller was a multiple-goal scorer on the night as she notched the final two Big Green goals, scoring at 1:25 and 15:40. Shannon Bowman was another multiple-point scorer as she earned assists on Kennedy's and Grundy's strikes. Freshman Sarah Newnam earned her fifth and sixth helpers of the season.
Dartmouth outshot Union 52-10, the most for the Big Green this season. Kate Lane earned the shutout, improving to 6-7-2. Alex Zirbel was in net for Union, she made 48 saves and falls to 3-12-1.
Dartmouth will be back in action tomorrow with a 4:00 tilt against Union.
