Pattman Pours in 26 to Lead Dartmouth Men's Basketball
Boxscore
HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's basketball team earned its second win in a row as senior Leon Pattman (Memphis, Tenn.) poured in a season-high 26 points, helping the Big Green to a 71-50 victory over Stony Brook.
Dartmouth (2-6) led from start-to-finish and built a 19-point lead at 25-6 with 3:01 to go in the opening half. The Big Green went to the locker room with a 27-15 advantage as sophomore DeVon Mosley (Mesquite, Texas) scored nine of his career-high 16 points in the first 20 minutes.
"I thought defensively we had a great effort," said third-year coach Terry Dunn. "I was most impressed with that and with our confidence on both ends of the floor. I wasn't pleased with our turnovers (20), but it's good to learn in a victory."
The closest Stony Brook got in the second half was a 12-point deficit, 38-26, on a layup by Ryan Jones with 13:00 to go. Dartmouth rebuilt its lead to 21, thanks in large part to Pattman hitting back-to-back four-point plays.
With about 11 minutes to go, Pattman drained a three and was fouled, making the free throw. About 90 seconds later, the senior repeated that for a 50-29 lead.
On the night, Pattman went a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line.
Junior Johnathan Ball (Memphis, Tenn.) had some impressive stats, too. He had 10 rebounds to go along with five assists.
Dartmouth finished the game shooting 50 percent from the floor (22-44). The Big Green held Stony Brook (4-6) to 33.3 percent.
Dartmouth was 10-of-18 from three-point territory, 55.6 percent, as Mosley was five-of-six beyond the arc.
The Big Green is back in action on Monday, hosting Quinnipiac in a 7:30 p.m. start. New England Sports Network (NESN) is televising the game.
