HANOVER, N.H. -- Dartmouth senior Ikechi Ogbonna (Bronx, N.Y.) and sophomore Mike Carmody (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) posted wins in their specialties as the annual Heptagonal Track and Field Championship came to a close Sunday at the Big Green's Leverone Fieldhouse.
Ogbonna won the 60 meter hurdles in a meet-record time of 7.93. Carmody took top honors in the 800 meters, clocking 1:51.04, more than two seconds ahead of the runner-up.
As a team, Dartmouth was sixth with 61 points. Cornell won its third title in four years with 122 points, 20 ahead of Princeton.
In the 5,000 meters, junior Alec Wall (Portland, Ore.) was the runner-up in 14:27.90 while senior George McArdle (Brookline, Mass.) took fourth in 14:31.64, giving the Big Green 12 points.
Dartmouth's distance medley relay of Carmody, senior Steve Mucchetti (Ridgefield, Conn.), freshman David Berman (Oak Park, Calif.) and sophomore Harry Norton (Exeter, N.H.) combined for 9:58.76, good for second place.
With 4:07.49, Norton was third in the mile, and sophomore Charlie Stoebe (Westport, Conn.) grabbed fourth in the 500 with his time of 1:04.85. Junior Rob Kerris (Elysburg, Pa.) was fourth in the shot put with 49-6 1/2.
