HANOVER, N.H. - Dartmouth's men's track and field team had six individual winners yesterday at the Dartmouth Indoor Classic at Leverone Field House, including sophomore Mike Carmody's outstanding performance in the 500 meter run.
Carmody (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) won the event by nearly four seconds, finishing in 1:03.68. His time places him second on the all-time school record books in the event, just behind Geoff Zawtocki `94's time of 1:02.89. The time was also good enough to qualify Carmody for the IC4A Championship in Boston, Mass on March 4-5.
Classmates Charlie Stoebe (Westport, Conn.) and Alec Wall (Portland, Ore.) also won events for the Big Green. Stoebe won the 400 meters in 50.54 seconds, while Wall took the mile in 4:14.21, just edging out teammate Jeff Englehutt (Dartmouth, N.S.) by less than a half-second.
Senior Ikechi Ogbonna (Bronx, N.Y.) won the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.18 in the finals. He had qualified with a time of 8.16 in the preliminaries.
In the field events, junior Rob Kerris (Elysburg, Pa.) won the shot put with a throw of 15.98 meters, while sophomore Randy McKnight (West Windsor, N.J.) won the long jump with a leap of 6.62 meters.
