MEDFORD, Mass. - At the Snowflake Classic hosted by Tufts on Saturday, the Dartmouth men's and women's track and field teams both were victorious. The men were the best in a field of 17 teams, while the women were tops among 16 teams. The men amassed 116 points to outdistance second place Bates who had 111.5 points and third place Tufts who finished with 107.5 points, while the women piled up 212 points to easily top Boston University who was second with 137 points and Tufts who took third with 122 points.
In the women's field events, Nicole LaBombard (Lebanon, N.H.) won the high jump with a leap of 1.57 meters. Erika Graham (E. Longmeadow, Mass.) won the pole vault by clearing 11 feet. Caitlin Corey (Kenmore, Wash.) finished first in the javelin with a throw of 37.48 meters.
On the men's side, sprinter Brian Evans (Fairfield, Texas) raced to victory in the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.06 and Fatih Stanley (North York, Ont.) won the 200 meter dash in 21.95.
In the men's field events, Derrick Vinklarek (Shiner, Texas) won the pole vault with a leap of 14-06. Randy McKnight (West Windsor, N.J.) won two events for the Big Green, taking the long jump in 6.67 meters and the triple jump in 13.65 meters. Rob Kerris (Elysburg, Pa.) was also a double winner. He was victorious in the shot put with a heave of 15.42 meters and he won the discus with a throw of 46.63 meters.
Dartmouth will be in action again on April 7-8 at the Princeton Invitational.
