The Dartmouth softball team lost a single game to UConn today in five innings at the UConn Softball Stadium. The Huskies scored runs in the first, third and fourth to take the 12-1 win.

The Big Green (12-18) got on the board first in the top of the first when Kelly Fry (Marietta, Ga.) blasted a home run over the left field fence. But UConn (17-21) came roaring back plating four runs in the bottom of the first.

The Huskies scored six in the bottom of the third and two in the bottom of the fourth to win the game in five innings.

Fry and Sarah Bankoff (Lynnfield, Mass.) had the only hits for Dartmouth. Abby Reed (Barrington, Ill.) (2-2) started in the circle for the Big Green and was relieved by Stephanie Trudeau (Spokane, Wash.).

Dartmouth opens up the home portion of its schedule this weekend by hosting Penn on Saturday and Princeton on Sunday. The game against Princeton will also be Louisville Slugger Day.
