Princeton, N.J. – A goal in the 35th minute of the contest was enough to carry Princeton to a 1-0 victory over Dartmouth this afternoon. The Tigers just edged the Big Green in a evenly-matched game in which each team took 11 shots.
Princeton came out quickly in the first half, out-shooting Dartmouth 6-3. Kyle McHugh put the Tigers on the board at 34:41, beating Big Green goalkeeper Rowan Anders (Qualicum Beach, B.C.) one on one. Jame Wunsch played the ball out of Princeton's defensive end, finding Devin Muntz who redirected it to McHugh.
The Big Green came out hard in the second half, out-shooting the Tigers 8-5, but could not find the back of the net. Princeton's Joe Walter preserved the shutout with five saves, including three in the second half. Anders finished the day with four saves for his squad.
Dartmouth junior Mike Ordonez (Coral Gables, Fla.) led his squad with a game-high four shots. The Big Green took six corner kicks to the Tigers' two.
Dartmouth dropped to 2-4-3 (0-1-1 Ivy) while Princeton improved to 5-3-2 (1-1 Ivy).
The Big Green will be back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Sacred Heart at 3:30 p.m.
