HANOVER, N.H. ? The Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team dropped its season opener against Cornell and Harvard in a tri-meet hosted by the Big Green.

The Dartmouth women fell to the Big Red 161-139 and to the Crimson by the score of 174-124. Harvard took both ends of the meet with a 169.5-128.5 win over Cornell

Freshman Maddie Steiner (Dallas, Texas) earned two first place finishes in her first collegiate meet at Dartmouth. She won the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of 1:55.04.

Steiner teamed with senior Liz Mancuso (Andover, Mass.), freshman Anna Sonstegard and junior Heather Jankins (Raynham, Mass.) to place first in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:36.78.

The Big Green return to action tomorrow as both men's and women's swimming and diving hosts Colgate, beginning at 12 p.m.
