HANOVER, N.H. ? The Dartmouth men's and women's swimming and diving teams split a dual meet with Colgate on Sunday afternoon at Karl Michael Pool. The Big Green men defeated Colgate 170-124 and the Dartmouth women fell, 160-134.
For the Dartmouth men, junior Kevin Ellis (Centennial, Colo.) and freshman Marco Chu (Newton, Mass.) led the Big Green with wins in three events apiece. Ellis won the 100-yard, 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle events, while Chu finished first in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke. He also swam the second leg of the 400-yard medley relay, which Dartmouth won with a time of 3:38.37.
Senior Andrew Berry (Middleton, Wis.) swept both diving events with a 340.88 in the 3-meter dive and a 317.99 in the 1-meter dive.
For the Dartmouth women, freshman Maddie Steiner (Dallas, Texas), junior Heather Jankins (Raynham, Mass.) and senior Liz Mancuso (Andover, Mass.) all won single events for the Big Green. Steiner place first in the 200-yard freestyle, while Jankins earned a top finish in the 100-yard breaststroke. Mancuso got a win in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:11.73.
Sophomore Kathleen Brady (Upland, Calif.) and senior Julianne Mifflin each earned victories in the diving portion of the meet. Brady placed first in the 3-meter dive with a score of 241.35, while Mifflin finished first in the 1-meter dive, scoring a 257.77.
The Big Green women will be back in action on Saturday, November 17, as Dartmouth travels to Brown for a 2:00 p.m. start. The men will also be traveling to Brown to face Navy and Brown in a tri-meet, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
