HANOVER, N.H. ? Harvard went up 2-1 with 21 seconds left in the second period and held off two late third period power plays from the Big Green as the Crimson defeated Dartmouth, 2-1, in ECAC Hockey action on Tuesday night.

Freshman Amanda Trunzo (Andover, Minn.) put the Big Green up 1-0, seven minutes into the first period on her sixth of the season. Sophomore Jenna Cunningham (Medicine Hat, Alta.) dug the puck out of the neutral zone and over to junior Maggie Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn.) and she slid a pass to Trunzo, who fired a shot that went top shelf over Harvard goaltender Christina Kessler.

The lead for the Big Green (7-2-1, 5-2-0 ECAC) didn't last long as Sarah Valliancourt knotted the score at 1-1, just 22 seconds later with the assist credited to Liza Ryabkina, who had two helpers on the night.

In the second period, Dartmouth had a great chance to retake the lead when sophomore Sarah Parsons (Dover, Mass.) found Trunzo at the side of the net, but she sent it wide.

Harvard (7-0-0, 7-0-0 ECAC) got its first lead with 21 seconds remaining in the period as Ryabkina circled behind the net and slipped a pass through the crease to Jenny Brine who buried the puck for the 2-1 lead.

Dartmouth had its chances with two power plays late in the third period, but could not capitalize as the Big Green fell, 2-1.

Junior goaltender Carli Clemis (Taber, Alta.) kept Dartmouth in the game with 21 saves, including 12 in the second period. Kessler was tested all night with 28 saves, with 13 coming in the final period.

The Big Green will be back on the road this coming weekend as Dartmouth travels to Union on Friday for a 7 p.m. face-off and Rensselaer on Saturday for a 4 p.m.start.
