Balanced Attack Sends Harvard Past Dartmouth

Cambridge, Mass. – Four players in double figures led Harvard to a 72-54 victory over Dartmouth this evening.

With the loss, the Big Green drops to 15-13 (9-5) Ivy while Harvard improves to 15-12 (13-1 Ivy).

The Crimson started the game on an 11-3 run and never looked back. Dartmouth got some good looks early on, but the shots did not fall its way and Harvard built its lead to 21-12 after a free-throw by Adrian Busischak at 6:56.

The Big Green rallied to go on an 8-1 run, cutting the Harvard lead to 23-20 at 3:44 after a pair of free-throws by senior Ashley Taylor (Cookeville, Tenn.). Harvard's Lindsay Hallion hit a back-breaking three just seconds later to start a 12-2 run to end the half for the Crimson who took a 34-22 lead into the locker room.

Harvard picked up where it left off in the second half, building a 48-29 lead after a layup by Niki Finelli at 12:51. Dartmouth then went on a 7-0 run that included four
points from rookie Betsy Williams (Norwich, Vt.) to cut it to 48-36 at 10:30.

The Crimson recovered from that and finished the game strong offensively to take the 72-54 final.

Harvard had 22 turnovers to Dartmouth's 21, but the Crimson scored 24 points off those miscues while the Green mustered 13.

Sydney Scott (Houston, Texas) led Dartmouth with 14 points while fellow junior Kristen Craft (Marshalltown, Iowa) posted 12 points. Taylor finished with 10 points and a career-high seven steals while Williams tallied a career-high eight points on 4-5 shooting.
