
David Jones Named Ivy Player of the Year with Three Others Feted

HANOVER, N.H. - Junior David Jones (North Vancouver, B.C.) earns his first awards of the season after being named the unanimous Ivy League Player of the Year. He's the first player since Ross Brownridge in 1980 to be a unanimous selection. Jones was also chosen first team along with goalie Mike Devine (Orchard Park, N.Y.). Ben Lovejoy (Orford, N.H.) and Tanner Glass (Craven, Sask.) both earned second team and honorable mention honors, respectively.The player of the year honors are the second in as many years for the Big Green.
Jones becomes just the third player in Dartmouth history to be named the Ivy League Player of the Year and is the 26th to be given first team honors. He earns his second first team award after a stellar junior campaign. Dartmouth's assistant captain has played in all 29 games this season and is leading the team with a career-high 39 points (3.07 goals per game). He contributed four goals and 14 assists on the power play as he has 15 goals and 24 assists on the season. Jones ended the ECAC Hockey League's regular season as the leading scorer with 31 points and is in several league and national categories. Along with first place in scoring he finished eighth in the ECACHL in goals scored, second in assists, third in power play points and seventh in gamewinning goals. Nationally he's seventh in scoring and 10th in assists. Jones tallied 12 points in February helping his team to a 7-1 record, a third-place finish in the ECACHL and a share of the Ivy Title. It's the first Ivy Title for the Big Green since the 1979-80 season when head coach Bob Gaudet was in net for Dartmouth. Jones has also been ECACHL All-Academic for the past two seasons. He is close to his 100th point as he has 87 career points in 96 games.
Netminder Devine was selected in net for the All-Ivy first team. Last season Devine earned his first All-Ivy honors after being chosen honorable mention. The junior has a .917 save percentage and he finished the regular season with 799 saves and a 2.56 goals against average. Devine led a strong defensive unit to an Ivy League tie for first with Yale at 6-3-1 and an overall record of 16-10-3 in 29 total games. Devine is the first Dartmouth goalie since Vern Guetens '93 to be named to the first team. Devine is seventh in the ECACHL in goals against average and fourth in save percentage.
Lovejoy earns his first-ever postseason awards with his second team All-Ivy honors. The senior is Dartmouth's top scoring defenseman with 20 points. He has seen time in all but one game this season, notching six goals and 14 assists. Lovejoy has been a huge part of the Big Green's power play unit as he has recorded five power play goals. He was given a big honor recently as he was named a finalist for the Walter Brown Award which presented annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England
Glass made his way onto the All-Ivy honorable mention team for his first-ever Ivy honors. The senior captain has been a solid presence for the Big Green this year missing just one game. He is currently third on the team in scoring with 25 points (8g, 17a). Glass has spent most of the season on Dartmouth's top line with juniors Nick Johnson (Calgary, Alta.) and Jones. He has recorded four plower play goals and two gamewinners. Glass has played in 120 games during his career, notching 79 total points.
