Lesher Wins Twice at Northeastern Track and Field
DEDHAM, Mass. - Freshman
Ted Lesher (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) won two events and the Dartmouth men's track and field athletes claimed four others at the Solomon Invitational hosted by Northeastern Saturday.
Lesher won the long jump with 22-2 1/2 and the triple jump with 43-9 1/4.
In the 400 meter dash, sophomore
Julian Thomas (San Antonio, Texas) had a winning time of 50.17, and senior
Jeff Englehutt (Dartmouth, N.S.) won the 1500 meters in 4:07.79. In addition to his third place finish in the shot put, senior
Rob Kerris (Elysburg, Pa.) won the discus with 162-9.
The Big Green had a three-second victory in the 4 x 400, as Thomas, sophomore David Berman (Oak Park, Calif.), junior Jamal Brown (Sacramento, Calif.) and senior Rick Cedrone (Stoughton, Mass.) combined for 3:21.21.
Dartmouth also grabbed the runner-up spot in five events. Freshman Michael Font (Pottstown, Pa.) clocked 2:00.10 in the 800; freshman Pete Pidermann (Hialeah, Fla.) ran 55.77 in the 400 hurdles; sophomore
Tim Wunderlich (Westminster, Md.) went 22-1 in the long jump; and junior Alex McClure (Seattle, Wash.) threw 190-3 in the javelin.
Pidermann, Berman, junior
Brian Evans (Fairfield, Texas) and sophomore Tim Edmonds (Glen Mills, Pa.) took second in the 4 x 100 with 43.84.
The Big Green hosts the Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, April 21 at Memorial Field.
