Men's Tennis Opens Season with Success at Home

Providence, R.I. ? The Dartmouth men's tennis team's dropped a hard-fought contest at Ivy League foe Brown on Friday afternoon. The Big Green drops to 16-7 (1-4 Ivy) with the loss.

The Bears came out solid in the doubles competition, winning all three matches by a comfortable margin to go up 1-0 overall.

The heart of the Dartmouth singles line up that has been so successful throughout the season also had trouble finding its stride and the Green lost straight set matches at No. 2-No. 4.

The play of Ari Gayer and No. 5 singles and Justin Tzou at No. 6 proved the lone bright spot for the Big Green, as both picked up victories. A valiant comeback at No. 1 by senior captain David Waslen fell short as he dropped the super breaker 10-8 after bursting back in the second set.

Sunday, the Big Green returns home to face a tough Yale squad at the Topliff courts in Hanover, N.H. at noon.
