DURHAM, N.H. ? Men's basketball defeated UNH 65-60 on Tuesday night in an extremely tight match, as the Big Green took on the Wildcats at 7:00 pm in Lundhold Gymnasium.

Dartmouth took off from the start, getting an early lead with a three-point shot from junior DeVon Mosley (Mesquite, Texas) and a brilliant alley-oop to senior Alex Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.) from Mosley. Two field goals from Marlon Sanders (Cleveland, Ohio) followed by another Mosley three-pointer and a jumper from Barnett gave Dartmouth a 10-point lead, up 16-6 on UNH.

However, that would be the most Dartmouth would be able to stretch its lead, as the Wildcats fought back, going on a 12-0 run to put them ahead 24-20 with 4:10 to go in the first half. With Dartmouth scoring just once more, a tip-in by Elgin Fitzgerald (Colorado Springs, Colo.), the Big Green finished the half trailing by six, 28-22.

With two shots from beyond the arc under his belt, DeVon Mosley entered halftime with a team-high six points.

The Big Green held on through the first part of the second half, but a three-point shot and two free throws from UNH put Dartmouth down 10, 42-32, with 9:50 to play.

As the second half drew to a close, the strategy turned to fouls, as both the Big Green and the Wildcats took their chances with sending their opponents to the foul line. The strategy didn't pay off for UNH, as the Big Green closed in on the Wildcat's lead.

Alex Barnett did his part by going 7-for-8 from the line and DeVon Mosley sank two free throws of his own. This last-minute run from Dartmouth put them within two points of UNH. A layup from Barnett with mere seconds to go sent the game into overtime.

The overtime minutes were back-and-forth, as first UNH and then Dartmouth took the lead. With 1:47 to play, Marlon Sanders successfully stole the ball away and made a breakaway layup to put the score at 59-59. A jumper from captain Johnathan Ball (Memphis, Tenn.) and a free throw from UNH set the score at 61-60 with 52 seconds left to play. After a series of turnovers, Dartmouth was up 61-60, and had possession as the final shot clock ticked away.

As the Big Green attempted to run down the clock, UNH scrambled to steal the ball away. Unfortunately, the Wildcats succeeded only in fouling Mosley twice. As Mosley proceeded to go 4-for-4 from the line, UNH could only watch as Dartmouth pulled away to win.

At the final buzzer, Barnett led the team in both scoring and rebounds, achieving a double-double with a team-high 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. He was joined in the double-digits for scoring by Mosley and Sanders, who scored 12 points and 10 points respectively. Sanders went 2-for-2 from the foul line.

The Dartmouth men will next be returning to Leede Arena to take on the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 7:00 pm.
