HANOVER, N.H. - A goal by the Penn Quakers early in the game allowed the visitors to take a 1-0 Ivy League win over the Dartmouth men's soccer team on a chilly Saturday evening. The loss drops the Big Green to 6-5-1, 1-1-1 Ivy while Penn improved to 8-2-3, 2-1 Ivy.
In the first half Penn held the advantage in shots with seven over Dartmouth's four as Sean Milligan (Westport, Conn.) was forced to make six saves.
The Quakers broke through in the 32:00 minute on an Alex Grendi goal from the left side of the box. Kevin Unger made a feed to Tobi Olopade who got the ball on Grendi's foot for the game winner.
The Big Green completely dominated play in the second half keeping the ball entirely in the Penn end but was unable to convert and tie the contest.
Craig Henderson (Wellington, New Zealand) tried to single-handedly get his team on the board in the final 10 minutes of play as the senior notched three shots on net but all were saved by Penn netminder Drew Healy.
Andrew Olsen (Norwell, Mass.) had a header at 81:07 as the Big Green continued to pound the ball in but Penn would hold on for the victory.
Dartmouth finished the contest with four more shots than the Quakers, 11-7.
The Big Green will be back in action next weekend traveling to New York City to take on Columbia. The two teams will battle on Saturday the 25th at 1:00 pm.
