WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Senior Tory Sheppard (Fishers, Ind.),
sophomore Katie Gulemi (Fairfield, Conn.) and freshman Kathleen Quirk (Kansas City, Mo.)
each carded an 80 on the first day of the ECAC Championships in Williamsburg,
Va., carrying Dartmouth to sixth place among the 17 teams participating in the
event. The Big Green finished the day 33-over par at 321, 12 strokes off the
pace set by St. John's and Princeton.
The trio tied for 20th on the day at eight-over
par, while freshman Marietta Smith (Mount Prospect,
Ill.) tied for 27th with an 81 and
senior Lauren Strickler (Akron,
Ohio) finished with an 85.
Michelle Romano of St. John's was the only player on the day
to finish at even par, one stroke ahead of Princeton's Susannah Aboff and
Lehigh's Ana Nam.
Play concludes tomorrow morning at Kiskiack Golf Course.
