Final Results
REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Day started out with an unstable wind from from the WNW. After waiting for
the breeze to stabilize,five races were completed starting at 10:50AM.
Courses were windward-leeward twice around with a gate and windward offset
mark. The wind was very shifty at 5-12 knots with flat water, making for
hard racing and race management. By the fifth race, the conditions became
too unstable to continue sailing. A lunch break taken at 1:20PM while
waiting for wind. Boats left the dock at 2:15PM and racing started again
at 2:40PM in a new sea breeze from the Southwest. The wind was more stable
and stronger, at 10-15 knots with some large puffs never exceeding 17. The
waves were very large rollers. No protests were filed, but there were
numerous general recalls. There was one OCS. Races were from 14-17 minutes
in length for first finishers.
11 more races are planned for Sunday.
Sunday: Very light, shifty wind from the north with flat water. Sailors waited until 11AM to go
sailing. Three races were sailed before racing was called at 2:05PM. Trinity College was a
no show on Sunday and U Conn B chose to not sail on Sunday. No protests were filed.
