ITHACA, N.Y. - The Dartmouth women's volleyball dropped an Ivy League match to Cornell on Friday. The Big Green won the first set, 25-23 but the Big Red came back to take the next three, 25-22, 25-19, 25-17.
The Big Red hit over .300 in the four sets while holding Dartmouth to only over .200 in one set. Jess Thomas (Tampa, Fla.), Madeline Baird (Austin, Texas) and Megan MacGregor (Carlsbad, Calif.) were all in double-figures for kills with 14, 10 and 11, respectively while Amber Bryant (Libertyville, Ill.) led her squad with 22 digs. MacGregor chipped in 13 and Baird had 11.
Dartmouth came out firing in the first set, hitting .268 but the Big Green could not keep the momentum up as Cornell stormed back to win the next set in close fashion but closed out the final two relatively easy.
The Big Green continues on the road tomorrow traveling to Columbia for both teams final Ivy League matches of the season. The loss drops Dartmouth to 7-16, 3-10 Ivy while Cornell improves to 9-15, 8-5 in the league.
