After a successful indoor season, five members of the Dartmouth track and field team have earned All-Ivy accolades for 2007-08. Determined by results at the Heptagonal Indoor Championship in Ithaca, N.Y. on March 1-2, the All-Ivy indoor track and field team was announced following the event last weekend.
Mike Carmody (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) earned two spots on first team All-Ivy, once in the 800 meter dash after his 1:51.86 first-place finish at Heps, and again as a member of the Big Green's distance medley relay team. This is Carmody's third appearance on an All-Ivy team, having previously been placed on the first team for 2005-06 and the second team for 2004-05.
Finishing first at Heps with a time of 9:55.29, the medley relay team of Carmody, junior
Trevor Middleton (New Orleans, La.), and seniors
Charlie Stoebe (Westport, Conn.) and
Harry Norton (N. Reading, Mass.) rounded out the Dartmouth representation on the first team. Norton was also named second-team All-Ivy for the 3000 meter run, after his time of 8:10.91 in Ithaca over the weekend earned him second place at Heps.
Also named to the second team for the weight throw was senior
Jessica Long (Lynn, Mass.), who placed second at Heps with a throw of 16.90 meters.
With five competitors named to the All-Ivy team, this year sees the most Big Green appearances on the list since the 2002-03 season, when six members of the Dartmouth track and field team were named.
