HANOVER, N.H. ? Boston College (25-26) popped a grand slam home run in the fifth inning, breaking what had been a pitchers' duel to take a 7-3 victory over the Dartmouth softball team in a nonconference game on Wednesday afternoon at Sachem Field.

Two sacrifice bunts by the Eagles in the fifth had the
go-ahead run on second before a walk loaded the bases for BC. But with Taylor
Peyton's one swing of the bat, a grand slam home run off the left field fence cleared
the bases giving the Eagles a 4-1 lead.
Another base runner in the fifth had
The Eagle stacked on one more in the top of the sixth
after a single, an error and a walk loaded the bases for pinch hitter Alison
Kooistra, who's bloop to right field brought one across. A hit batter scored another
run as the visitors took a 6-1 lead. The Big Green defense came alive for the
next two batters with a strikeout and play at the plate on a wild pitch.
Kirsten Costello (Windsor, N.Y.) led off the sixth with a walk and
moved to second on a fielders choice play as Costello and Chifcian were at
first and second with no outs. Both runners moved over on a groundout before a
bases clearing double by Audrey Kolodziej (Morton Grove, Ill.) gave
Despite a hit by Christy Autin (Harwood Heights, Ill.) in the bottom of the seventh the Big Green was unable to score anymore as the Eagles took a 7-3 victory.
Dartmouth (11-23) will be back in action this weekend with a home-and-home Ivy League series against Harvard. On Saturday the Big Green travels to Cambridge for a 2:00 pm doubleheader with the Crimson before heading home to Sachem Field on Sunday at 2:00 pm for the final Ivy League doubheader of the season.
