HANOVER, N.H. -- Dartmouth men's basketball head coach
Terry Dunn today announced the hiring of Matthew Raidbard as a volunteer assistant coach for the program.
“Matt gained terrific experience at the Division II level the last couple of years, and we are very excited to have his energy and enthusiasm on our staff as the volunteer assistant,” said Coach Dunn. “He will be very helpful not only in the office and with the players, but also with his extensive contacts in the Midwest.”
A 2006 graduate of Indiana University, Raidbard graduated with a degree in classical studies and history with a minor in sociology. For the past two years, he was an assistant coach of the men's basketball team at Western New Mexico University. Not only was he instrumental in recruiting and player development, he also created and implemented the team's strength and conditioning program.
Raidbard, 24, also served as the intramural director at WNMU, taking on responsibilities of organizing, directing and budgeting all the intramural athletic events. In addition to his dual role with the athletics staff, he found the time to earn his master's degree in educational leadership.
The native of Skokie, Ill., spent time during the summer of 2007 as a coach at various basketball camps, including Bradley University, the University of Illinois and the University of Wisconsin.
For seven years beginning in 1997, Raidbard acted as a volunteer coach in his hometown, coaching boys aging from 9-17 years old. The team traveled around the North Shore of Chicago to participate in various leagues and events.
“I feel honored to be a part of the Dartmouth men's basketball program,” Raidbard stated. “I have a tremendous opportunity to learn from Coach Dunn and his experienced staff. I also am privileged to work for a college that has such a rich tradition and historical significance.”
