August 29, 2008 -- CATCHING UP WITH DICK JAEGER
by Jeff Friedman, Jaeger Civic Intern
Richard Jaeger was involved in the admissions department for Dartmouth for 25 years and then served as Director of Athletics for 13 years before retiring in 2002. He has donated tens of thousands of hours of his time to helping communities in need. A mainstay in the Upper Valley, Mr. Jaeger is currently retired and delivers meals to eight community centers around Grafton County. Mr. Jaeger sees community service as a very important aspect of one's life. On the importance of giving back to society, Mr. Jaeger said, “You get so many rewards and feelings of fulfillment doing things to help others.” He continued to say that it makes you “realize how lucky you are” and “have a feeling of what the world is about.” A prominent figure in the Dartmouth community as both a former Dean of Admissions and Director of Athletics, Mr. Jaeger has continued his strong Dartmouth connections by constantly volunteering to help people.
