HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth athletic training and strength and conditioning departments have hired three new members to its staff.
Head athletic trainer Jeff Frechette announced the hiring of Nicole Scremin and David Turro. Scremin's position is a full-time certified athletic trainer, while Turro's is a one-year appointment.
The Holekamp Family strength and conditioning coach Bob Miller also has named Kaitlin Sweeney as the assistant strength and conditioning coach.
Scremin, a 2003 graduate of Boise State, comes to Hanover following three years as a graduate assistant at Northeastern University where she also earned her master's degree in athletic training. During her time at Northeastern, she worked at multiple events around Boston, including representing Gatorade in educating youth athletes, parents and coaches on hydration while participating in sports. She will be covering the men's and women's rugby club team and women's lacrosse.
Turro is a recent graduate of Plymouth State, where he was a student trainer for men's hockey, football, men's basketball, women's lacrosse and field hockey teams. In addition to his time at Plymouth State, he worked with multiple patients with disabilities at Shake-A-Leg, Inc. and skis at Tenney Mountain as a member of the ski patrol. He will be assisting the staff in a number of ways, primarily with football.
Sweeney comes to Dartmouth following two seasons at Wisconsin-La Crosse as a graduate assistant. From 2001-2006, she was a strength and conditioning coach for student-athletes at High Performance Sports in Peabody, Mass. and at her alma mater of Ithaca College. She also interned with Cornell and Georgia Tech, along with being a conditioning specialist for professional athletes. She recently earned her master's in exercise and sports science, human performance and strength and conditioning at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Sweeney is a 2006 graduate of Ithaca College where she earned her bachelor's in clinical exercise science with a minor in nutrition promotion. At Ithaca, Sweeney was a four-year member of the women's soccer team, a first team all-conference performer and was named to the NSCAA All-Region Team. She will be working with women's hockey, football, women's crew and men's and women's lacrosse.
