BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Sophomore Kathleen Quirk paced the Dartmouth College women's golf team in the first round of the Lehigh Invitational on Saturday, firing an 87 in difficult weather conditions. Quirk's score put her in a tie for 30th, while the Big Green as a team finished the day with a 366 to place 10th in the 10-team tournament.
Quirk was the lone Dartmouth golfer to break 90 with the whipping wind wreaking havoc on the round. Freshman Colleen Carroll had a 92, sophomore Heather Roland a 93, junior captain Katie Gulemi a 94 and freshman Emily Hyman a 99.
Only nine of the 48 golfers in the event managed to shoot below 80. Columbia posted the best score of the day with a 312 thanks to three of its five team members breaking 80, including two of the three tied for individual honors at 77 (+5) — Jennifer Adyorough and Lynda Kwon. Livia Amado of host Lehigh is the only other golfer to match that score.
Harvard is six strokes behind Columbia, while third-place Penn trails by 13 strokes.
The final round will take place tomorrow morning.
