Season Opener
• Dartmouth opens up its 2009-10 season on the road. This is the fifth straight season the Big Green have played their first game away from Leede Arena, losing each of the first four.
• The last victorious season opener for the Green came the last time they began the season at home — 2004-05 in a 66-61 triumph over Quinnipiac, Coach Dunn's first game as Dartmouth's head coach.
• Last year the Big Green began the season at Army, which defeated Dartmouth, 63-48.
• Since the 1928-29 season, Dartmouth is 51-30 in season openers. The Big Green's longest winning streak (15) on opening day came from the 1929-30 through the 1943-44 seasons.
• The last true road victory in a season opener came 21 years ago at Vermont in an 86-76 triumph. Dartmouth won a neutral site game against Colgate to start the 1999 season.
Series vs. Boston College
• This is the 27th meeting between the two schools, but just the sixth in the past 30 years. Boston College holds an 18-8 advantage in the series and has won the last three games.
• The Big Green are just 1-11 in Boston against the Eagles with the lone victory coming on Jan. 3, 1963. Dartmouth has lost 10 straight at BC.
• The last time Dartmouth defeated Boston College was 21 years ago in Leede Arena's second year in an 80-74 triumph shortly after Thanksgiving.
Meet Your Big Green
• A total of 10 letterwinners return to the squad this year, including three starters. The top two returning scorers for Dartmouth are both just sophomores in point guard Jabari Trotter (7.0 ppg) and wing David Rufful (6.3 ppg).
• The leading returning rebounder is also a sophomore in Herve Kouna (3.0 rpg). He can be a dominant type of player on the boards as evidenced by his 12 rebounds at Providence in just his second career game.
• The co-captains of this year's Big Green team for the second consecutive year are senior forward Jarrett Mathis and senior guard Robby Pride.
• Two-thirds of the roster is comprised of underclassmen with five sophomores and five freshmen, but just three seniors and two juniors.
• Of the five freshmen joining the roster this year, three hail from the state of Texas — 6-2 guard Garrett Brown, 6-9 forward Josef Brown (no relation) and 6-5 forward Mbiyimoh Ghogomu.
Scouting the Eagles
• Boston College returns all but one player — All-ACC second team guard Tyrese Rice — from a squad that advanced to the NCAA Tournament after tying for fifth in the conference with a 9-7 mark and going 22-12 overall.
• The top returning scorer and rebounder is 6-8 junior forward Joe Trapani who averaged 13.4 points and 6.6 boards a year ago.
• The curious fact about the roster is that there is not a single freshman on the team and just one senior (forward Tyler Roche). The only new face is sophomore walk-on Peter Rehnquist.
• The Eagles defeated St. Michael's, 99-58, on Sunday afternoon in their lone exhibition game. Six players scored in double figures, led by Reggie Jackson with 23 off the bench (5-6 on threes) and forward Corey Raji with 19 points and 14 boards.
