PRINCETON, N.J. - The Dartmouth (11-12, 7-6 Ivy) women's volleyball team had a battle with Princeton (10-13, 8-4 Ivy) from beginning to end but it was the Tigers that came away victorious, 3-2 on Friday in Princeton's Dillon Gym. Game scores were 25-17, 21-25, 17-25, 25-23, 12-15.
The Big Green won the first set pretty easily but the Tigers battled back and won a close second set to tie the match up. It was Dartmouth that faltered in the third as Princeton took a one-set lead. A close fourth tied the contest again as the two sides went into a fifth and final set.
In what was a close match throughout the Big Green hit .243, compared to the Tigers .264. Each side recorded nine total blocks and Dartmouth recorded two more sets, 62-60.
Madeline Baird (Austin, Texas) was tops for the Big Green with 25 kills. She also added 17 digs for a double-double. Also recording double-doubles were Megan MacGregor (Carlsbad, Calif.) with 15 kills, 17 digs and Alissa Santa Maria (Yorba Linda, Calif.) with 49 assists and 12 digs.
