Welcome Home
• After opening the season with three true road games for the first time in 20 years, Dartmouth begins a five-game homestand tonight against Loyola (Md.).
• The Big Green are 13-9 in home openers since first beginning play in Leede Arena in 1987, but are 2-3 under head coach Terry Dunn having lost their last three.
• The last victory in a home opener came against UC Davis on Nov. 25, 2005 by a 66-61 score.
• Dartmouth needs just two victories to reach 1,200 in the program's history, which dates back to the 1900-01 season.
• Last time out Dartmouth was defeated by Furman, 83-60, in Greenville, S.C.
• Junior center Clive Weeden had 11 points and 11 rebounds (both career highs) against the Paladins, the first double-double of his career and first by a Big Green player since Alex Barnett had 14 and 10 against Columbia on Feb. 15, 2008.
• The leading scorer was junior guard Ronnie Dixon with 14 points on 5-of-8 from the floor with a three-pointer and 3-of-4 at the line.
• Sophomore forward Josh Riddle reached double figures in points for the first time in his career with 10 while going a perfect 4-of-4 from the line.
• Each of the 15 players on the roster played at least six minutes at Furman.
Series vs. Loyola
• These two schools have never met on the hardwood prior to tonight's game.
• Against current MAAC schools, Dartmouth is 15-21 with more than one-third of those 36 games coming against Manhattan (7-6).
Scouting the Greyhounds
• Loyola, which changed its name to Loyola University this year, has split its first four contests, but lost its most recent game, 63-44, at Mount St. Mary's on Saturday.
• The Greyhounds began the year with a 79-66 triumph over America East power Vermont.
• After shooting better than 46 percent from the floor in the first three games, Loyola was a woeful 27.1 percent (13-of-48) in its last outing with just four assists.
• Leading scorer Brett Harvey was the lone Greyhound in double figures with 12 points. Harvey is the top long-distance threat for Loyola, hitting 8-of-19 (.421) from deep.
• Shane Walker has more than twice as many rebounds as any one else on the squad, averaging 7.3 boards a game. But he is shooting just 35 percent from the floor and 50 percent at the line.
• Brian Rudolph runs the offense, handing out 19 assists while turning the ball over only nine times.
• The Greyhounds will play physically having averaged nearly 24 fouls per game thus far.
Back on the Floor
Senior Jarrett Mathis is playing in his fifth season for the Big Green, having suffered through numerous injuries that have allowed him to play in just 14 games. He was a welcome sight on the floor in the first three games, playing a total of 26 minutes, and his 14 minutes at Boston College were the most for him in three years.
Freshmen Get Their Feet Wet
Of the five freshmen on the roster, four got an opportunity to play in the season opener at Boston college, then all five played at George Mason and at Furman. Matt LaBove saw the most action with a total of 48 minutes in the three games, grabbing nine boards and blocking three shots against the Patriots while scoring four points. R.J. Griffin has scored the most points with 10 so far, seven coming at Furman.
Oh Captains my Captains
For the second consecutive year, Dartmouth will have forward Jarrett Mathis and guard Robby Pride serving as co-captains. While numerous players throughout the years have been a captain for two seasons, this is the first time in school history two players have captained the squad together in consecutive seasons.
Rare Two-Sport Athlete
In addition to Robby Pride's duties as the co-captain, the senior is also a member of the lacrosse team at Dartmouth, making him the only Division I male to participate in these two sports. Two years ago he played in 10 games with five starts, scoring one goal and dishing out two assists. Pride played in 10 games again last year, taking three shots while grabbing 15 groundballs.
Don't Mess With Texas
Three of the five rookies on the squad hail from the state of Texas — guard Garrett Brown (Angleton), forward Josef Brown (Houston) and forward Mbiyimoh Ghogomu (Friendswood).
Barnett in France
The 2009 Ivy League Player of the Year, Alex Barnett, graduated last spring and is now playing in France in the ProB League for Hermine Nantes Atlantique. In his first game with the team on Nov. 13, Barnett hit four three-pointers and scored a team-high 13 points in 28 minutes.
