First Road Game in Nearly 4 Weeks
• The last time Dartmouth took to the road, it lost an 83-60 game at
Furman on Nov. 21. Since then, the Big Green played five games at home,
going 2-3 in that span.
• The video stream of the game provided by Lehigh is available free of charge on Yahoo! Sports.
• These two teams met last year in Leede Arena, with Lehigh coming away with a 13-point victory, 73-60. Zahir Carrington registered a double-double for the Mountain Hawks with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
• The leading returning scorer from that game for Dartmouth is senior Robby Pride who had eight points. Lehigh was one of two teams last year to hold Alex Barnett '09 to single digits (9).
• The Big Green are coming off an 83-54 victory over Division III Lyndon State, the 1,200th win in Dartmouth history, which dates back to 1900-01.
• Four players scored in double figures, led by sophomore Jabari Trotter with a season-high 16. Sophomore David Rufful posted 13, freshman R.J. Griffin a season-high 12 and Pride 10.
• Junior center Clive Weeden grabbed 10 boards, his third double-digit rebound game of the year.
• The last time Dartmouth won by at least 20 points was a 96-47 triumph over Division III Plymouth State last season.
Series vs. Lehigh
• Including last year's 73-60 loss to the Mountain Hawks, Dartmouth is 2-6 all-time in the series.
• The first meeting dates back more than 100 years, a 24-16 Dartmouth victory on March 2, 1905. The next showdown didn't take place for another 75 years.
• The other six meetings have taken place this decade, with the only Big Green win coming in Leede Arena, 72-67, on Nov. 30, 2001.
• While Dartmouth is 2-6, Lehigh is technically 5-2 in the series, having vacated a 60-50 victory over the Big Green in the 2004-05 season.
Scouting the Mountain Hawks
• Since getting off to a 3-2 start, Lehigh has lost three straight, the last two on the road at Columbia and Dayton. This is its first game in 12 days due to exams.
• Although in the bottom third of the rankings for shooting accuracy, the Mountain Hawks are terrific at the line, shooting 74.1 percent as a team, and a solid 36.7 percent from downtown.
• Lehigh also distributes the ball well, ranking 29th nationally in assists per game and 65th in assist-to-turnover ratio.
• Point guard Marquis Hall is sixth in the nation with 6.4 assists per game while averaging 9.9 points.
• Rookie guard C.J. McCollum is the Mountain Hawks' leading scorer at 13.0 points, but is shooting just 35.6 percent (32-of-90) from the floor.
• No less than eight players are scoring at least six points per game.
• Another freshman, forward Gabe Knutson, is Lehigh's top rebounder at 6.1 boards per game.
Trotter Taking Charge
In each of the first six games, a different Big Green player led the team in scoring outright. Against Army, one player finally took charge to lead the offense — sophomore Jabari Trotter. The point guard scored a game-high 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting with two three-pointers in a career-high 36 minutes. Perhaps making his first appearance off the bench in 35 career games stoked his fire. Whatever the reason, it continued the next day with a season-high 16 points in the 83-54 win over Lyndon State, hitting 7-of-12 from the floor with two more triples.
Massive Margin of Victory
By defeating Lyndon State by 29 points, 83-54, on Dec. 13, Dartmouth posted its largest margin of victory since a 96-47 pasting of Plymouth State (that's a 49-point difference) almost one year previously to the day (Dec. 14, 2008). The last time the Big Green beat a Division I opponent by at least 20 points was an 86-62 triumph (24 points) over Maryland Eastern Shore on Jan. 23, 2008. The last time Dartmouth won by 20 against an Ivy opponent? Jan. 30, 1999 when Brown went down, 70-46 (although the Green did beat Princeton two years ago by 19, 71-52).
Finding the Bottom of the Net
Dartmouth shot a scintillating 55.7 percent (34-of-61) against Lyndon State, 10 percent higher than its previous best this season (45.7 percent versus Hartford, the other Green win). The last time the Big Green shot at least 50 percent for a game was the heartbreaking 63-62 loss to Harvard on Jan. 10 (exactly 50 percent). Under Coach Dunn, Dartmouth is 13-8 when hitting at least half of its shots.
Passing the Rock
In none of the first five games did Dartmouth give out more than nine assists, but in the past three games, the Green have been more in the holiday spirit, giving out at least 11 in each contest. The most recent game against Lyndon State featured a season-high 17 helpers, including career highs for Robby Pride and David Rufful with five apiece.
Going Retro with 80s
The 83 points for the Big Green against Lyndon State put them over 80 for the first time since that 96-47 win over Plymouth State. Under Coach Dunn, Dartmouth is 7-2 when scoring 80 points.
