Non-League Road Win Elusive
• Lundholm Gym is the site of Dartmouth's last non-conference road victory — a 65-60 overtime triumph over New Hampshire on Jan. 15, 2008.
• The Big Green have lost all four non-conference road games this year, but Thursday's 66-58 defeat at Lehigh was the closest game to date.
• Four Dartmouth players scored in double figures for the second straight game, this time led by 13 points from senior Robby Pride, who just missed his first career double-double with nine boards.
• Freshman Matt LaBove did record his first career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds in 30 minutes off the bench.
• Another rookie, R.J. Griffin topped 10 points for the second straight game, hitting on 5-of-6 shots for 11 points.
• Dartmouth grabbed a season-high 43 rebounds, eight more than Lehigh. The last time the Green had at least 43 boards against a Division I opponent came last year against … Lehigh.
• The Big Green defense continued to annoy opposing shooters as Lehigh shot just 34.5 percent from the floor, the lowest for a Dartmouth opponent this year.
Series vs. New Hampshire
• This is the 60th game between the in-state rivals, with Dartmouth holding a slight 31-28 advantage.
• Last year the Wildcats won by nine in Leede Arena, 68-59, leaving head coach Terry Dunn with a 2-3 record against them.
• This decade, UNH is 6-3 against the Big Green.
• The first meeting came on Jan. 12, 1909 when Dartmouth beat New Hampshire State (as it was then known), 22-9.
• The series has been played continually since the 1970-71 season with UNH owning a 25-19 edge over the Green. Five of those games went into overtime.
Scouting the Wildcats
• New Hampshire has been tough at home, winning all three games at Lundholm Gym by at least 12 points, but has struggled on the road with an 0-4 mark, losing each by at least 15 points.
• Perhaps the lowest-scoring half of the season in the nation came in the Wildcats' game at Pitt on Dec. 4. The host Panthers led at the break, 15-7, as UNH hit just 3-of-25 from the floor.
• The Wildcats have played one other Ivy team to date, losing a 78-60 battle at Harvard on Nov. 25.
• Like the Big Green, New Hampshire has had six different players lead its squad in scoring in a game this year, but guard Alvin Abreu has done so in each of the last two. His 12.7 points per game is tops on the team.
• Center Dane DiLiegro, who had 13 boards against Dartmouth last year, leads the team with a strong 8.1 rebounds per game to go along with his 11.3 scoring average.
• The leading scorer for the Wildcats versus Dartmouth last year, Tyrone Conley with 17 points on five triples, is shooting just 28.6 percent from the floor and 22.0 percent from behind the arc.
LaBove LaDouble
At Lehigh on Dec. 17, freshman center Matt LaBove recorded his first career double-double, scoring 12 points while snaring 11 rebounds. The rookie was just 3-of-10 from the floor, but was a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line to account for his scoring. Eight of his season-high 11 boards came on the defensive end.
Taking Pride in Rebounding
Senior captain Robby Pride may be the shortest member of the team at six feet, but he proved he can collect some missed shots with a career-high nine rebounds at Lehigh. As a team, Dartmouth hauled in 43 boards, its most against a Division I team since grabbing that exact amount against Lehigh last year.
R.J. Accuracy on F.G.
Points have been hard to come by at times this year, but freshman R.J. Griffin is showing that he knows a thing or two about finding them. The rookie has drained 9-of-12 (.750) of his field goals over the past two games, including 5-of-6 at Lehigh. Oddly enough, he missed his three foul shots in the game, after hitting 8-of-9 to start his career.
Smothering Defense
Dartmouth's defenders have made shooting a difficult chore for its opponents of late. In the last two contests, the Big Green opposition has converted just 39-of-112 (.348) field goals. Lehigh put up the worst field goal percentage of any Green opponent this season at 34.5 (19-of-55).
