BOSTON - The Dartmouth men's track and field team competed at the 2009 Valentine's Invitational on Saturday at Boston University and junior Chris Zablocki (Essex, Conn.) had the top finish of the day for the Big Green in the 5000-meter run.
Zablocki led the way for Dartmouth with a fourth-place finish in the 5000 meters with a time of 14:37.97, while senior Ben True (North Yarmouth, Maine) was the next impressive runner for the Big Green after taking home sixth place in the 3000 meters at 7:59.87. With that time, True moved into third all-time in Dartmouth history in the event and the run was a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Championships.
In the same event, freshman Brad Kenimer (Alexandria, Va.) finished in 14th, posting a time of 8:18.40 and junior John Schroeder (Nashua, N.H.) took 16th with at time of 8:19.20. With those times both qualified for the IC4A meet.
Junior Muhammed Abdul-Shakoor (Stone Mountain, Ga.) finished 11th in the 55m dash, sprinting to the line at 6.57. Senior Tim Edmonds (Glen Mills, Pa.) took home 16th in the 400m dash, while senior Trevor Middleton (New Orleans, La.) finished the 800-meter run in 1:53.41 for 11th place. Edmonds and Middleton both qualifed for the IC4A meet.
The Dartmouth men also competed at MIT in all the field events. Sophomore David Irving (Manchester, N.H.) won the weight throw with a toss of 56-4 and senior Lee Murtha (Pierpont, Ohio) took home the shot put after throwing 47-9.
Dartmouth will be back in action on Feb. 22 at New England's in Boston.
