Searching for a Winning Streak
? Dartmouth is in a position to post its first winning streak in over a year following its 63-60 home triumph over Penn last Saturday.
? The victory last Saturday ended the Big Green's 23-game losing streak to the Quakers, dating back to Feb. 8, 1997 when Dartmouth won at Penn in overtime.
? Last year both Brown and Yale swept the four games from the Big Green, but the two in Leede Arena were decided by a combined six points.
? For the 15th time in 18 games, senior Alex Barnett led the Green in scoring with 24 points, hitting 8-of-16 shots. No less than five times in the contest did he hit a shot and get fouled, converting four of them into three-point plays.
? Collecting a career-high 17 points in the win was senior Dan Biber. The most important of those points came with eight seconds to play when he broke the deadlock with a three-point play of his own to win the game.
? Freshman Josh Riddle made tremendous contributions off the bench, hitting his first collegiate three-pointer, scoring five points and picking up steals on back-to-back possessions in the final 3:30 of the game.
Series vs. Brown (6-12, 0-4)
? This is the 138th game in the series, by far the fewest against any Ivy League team. Dartmouth holds a 74-63 advantage entering tonight.
? Coach Terry Dunn has found success against the Bears in Leede Arena having won three of the four meetings, while going 4-4 overall.
? Dartmouth is 16-5 at this venue versus Brown, having won the first 13 meetings here.
? Last year the Bears won both games, 77-51 in Providence and 75-71 in Hanover. They did it with offensive firepower, shooting 62.1 percent in the two games and 52.2 percent from long range, not to mention 76.2 percent at the charity stripe.
Scouting the Bears
? After going 6-8 in non-conference play, Brown has dropped all four Ivy contests, three of which have been on the road. Overall, the Bears are just 1-10 outside of their home arena, with the lone victory coming at Holy Cross back on Nov. 19.
? Dartmouth and Brown have played four common opponents, to which the Green lost all five times while the Bears split four games, beating Army and Quinnipiac and losing to Providence and UNH.
? The Bears are led by forward Matt Mullery at 15.7 points per game. His field goal percentage of 59.0 leads the Ivy League by a wide margin, and he also is seventh in the conference in rebounding (5.7).
? Peter Sullivan (14.1) and long-range bomber Adrian Williams (12.6) also average in double figures, with the latter second in the league in three-point percentage at 43.8 and first in free throw percentage at 90.9.
? Forward Chris Skrelja is the team's top rebounder at 6.4 per game, and the team leader in assists at 3.5 per contest. Both figures rank third in the Ivy.
? The Bears' weakness has been at the defensive end, where opponents are averaging over 70 points a game and a 46.2 field goal percentage, the worst percentage in the league.
Series vs. Yale (7-11, 2-2)
? This is the 193rd game between these two schools. Yale took the lead over the past two years, having won the last four games for a 98-94 advantage.
? The last Dartmouth victory in the series was in Leede Arena on Feb. 17, 2006, 72-64.
? Coach Dunn is just 2-6 all-time versus the Bulldogs, 2-2 in Leede Arena.
? The Big Green are 12-9 versus Yale in this building.
? Last year the Bulldogs squeaked out a 50-48 victory in Leede Arena when a Dartmouth shot at the buzzer rimmed out.
Scouting the Bulldogs
? Yale has been quite a streaky team this year with losing streaks of three and five games, as well as a five-game winning streak. Currently, the Bulldogs are on a two-game slide.
? Part of Yale's woes can be attributed to playing mostly road contests. The Bulldogs are 4-1 at home (the only loss coming against Stanford) but 3-10 on the road. Their best road win came at Oregon State on Nov. 24, 53-52.
? The offense has disappeared over the last three halves of play, shooting a lowly 23.1 percent (18-of-78) from the floor.
? Forward Ross Morin is the leading scorer at 13.1 points, while guard Alex Zampier is right behind at 12.9 per game.
? On the glass, wing Travis Pinick (6.2 rpg) and Morin (6.1) are formidable rebounders, ranking fourth and fifth in the league, respectively. Pinick is also fifth in the Ivy League with 3.1 assists per game.
? Yale has been one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the country at 27.1 percent ? only seven other teams have shot at a worse clip.
