PHILADELPHIA - Both Big Green men's and women's track and field
teams competed at day one of the 114th Penn Relays with many Dartmouth
athletes making their mark among the best in the nation.
The highlight of the first day for the Big Green at Franklin Field was the 10,000 meters. Dartmouth senior Glenn Randall
(Collbran, Colo.) ran an excellent race and finished in the fifth
position with a time of 30:12. He crossed the line ahead of 26 others,
including teammate Chris Zablocki (Essex, Conn.), who finished in 16th at 30:54.25.
The
women's impressive showing came in the distance medley relay as the Big
Green teamed to finish in seventh. The crew of senior Marcy Van Arnam (Syracuse, N.Y.), junior Natalie Stoll (Portland, Ore.), freshman Christina Supino (Windham, N.H.) and sophomore Alexandra Tanner
(Baltimore, Md.) combined to cross the line at 12:00 exactly. Another
highlight for the women came in the 3000-meter steeplechase as junior Ali Smrcina took home the seventh spot with a time of 11:07.52 with junior Laura Tabor (Portsmouth, N.H) close behind in 12th with a time of 11:21.70.
The men also competed in the 3000-meter steeplechase with junior Jason Lyon (Hyannisport, Mass.) finishing 10th at 9:26.76 and senior Andrew Han (Madison, Wis.) taking home 12th with a time of 9:30.40. Freshman Brad Kenimer
(Alexandria, Va.) ran in his first collegiate race at the Penn Relays
and finished in 15th in the 5000 meters with a time of 14:38.84.
