Seniors Strickler and Sheppard Lead Dartmouth Women's Golf in First Round at Ivy Championship

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. ? Seniors Lauren Strickler (Akron, Ohio) and Tory Sheppard (Fishers, Ind.) are at the top of the Dartmouth scoresheet, but their leadership was not enough to keep the Big Green from being in last place with score of 352 after the first day of the 2009 Ivy League Women's Championship.

Strickler is tied for 21st overall with an 18-hole score of 83. Sheppard is four shots behind and tied for 25th.

The three other competitors for Dartmouth are underclassmen. Freshman Marietta Smith (Mt. Prospect, Ill.) shot a round of 89 while classmate Kathleen Quirk (Kansas City, Mo.) recorded a score of 93. Sophomore Katharine Gulemi (Fairfield, Conn.) is even with Quirk.

Harvard holds a two-stroke lead over Yale to sit atop the leader board with a first-round total of 306.

Susannah Aboff has the Princeton Tigers four shots behind the Crimson as she is leading the individual leader board with a par score of 72.

Play will resume with the second round teeing off at 7:30 am.
