Pete Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) entered the second round of the 2009 Ivy League Men's Championship just one stroke behind the leader and by the end of the day had takes sole-possession of first place. Williamson's score of 138 (69-69) is one ahead of Eric Salazar of Princeton.
As a team, Dartmouth jumped up two places on the leader board into second place. Collectively, the Big Green shaved 13 strokes off their first-day total on their second day, totaling 573 (293-280) and just two shots behind Penn for first.
Senior
Alex Abate (Augusta, Ga.) is five shots behind Williamson. He cut five strokes off his first-round score (74-69) and is tied for seventh overall. Classmate
Rob Henley (Longmeadow, Mass.), who was tied with Abate entering the day, finished the day tied for 13th with a score of 145 (74-71).
Davis Mullany (Great Barrington, Mass.) has a two-day score of 147 (76-71) while
Dave Putney (Unionville, Conn.) cut nine strokes off his first-round score of 153 (81-72) after 36 holes.
The final round will begin at 7:30 am tomorrow. Williamson will be in the final flight, scheduled for tee-off at 9:50 am.
