Bio
David Knight Putney is a Dartmouth legacy out of Farmington High School in Farmington, Conn. He played varsity basketball for a year but centered his focus around golf, which he lettered in for four years and captained for two.
Dartmouth Career
2009-10: Competed in the Dartmouth Invitational where he placed 10th and helped lead the Big Green to a 1st place finish overall.
2008-09: Competed in the Cornell Invitational as well as the MacDonald Cup at Yale. Finished the season by tying for 7th place with teammate Rob Henley at the Northeastern Championships where the team finished 7th as well.
2007-08: Finished 4th at the Dartmouth Invitational which helped the Big Green take 1st place overall. Competed in the Cornell Invitational, the MacDonald Cup, the ECAC Championships, the NEIGA Chamionships where the team finished 5th, the Yale Invitational, and the Ivy Championships.
2006-07: Competed in the Dartmouth Invitational, the NEIGA Championships, the Yale Invitational, and the Northeast Invitational. At the Ivy Championships, Putney finished in 17th place.
Before Dartmouth: At Farmington, He was named the No. 1 golfer and helped lead his team to victory twice in the Northwest Conference (NWC) Championship and Tournament Championship, and was given an individual medal for stellar play by the NWC.
From 2003 to 2005, Putney was awarded numerous titles by the Northwestern Conference. He was named All NWC, All-Academic, All-Conference; in 2003 he was named the Rookie of the Year, and in the three following years was named Most Valuable Player.
Off the course Putney is a remarkable student. He is a member of the National Honor Society, a Mu Alpha Theta (National Mathematics Honor Society), AP Scholar with Honor, and the National French Honor Society. He has earned numerous awards for his academic prowess and volunteer work.
While at Dartmouth, Putney wants to study Economics or History, with tentative career plans in Business.
