NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Dartmouth men's golf team tied for fourth out of 11 teams at the 48th Macdonald Cup at Yale Golf Course on Friday, Sept. 25, after the second day of competition was canceled due to inclement weather, making the results from Friday's opening round final.
The Big Green finished just one stroke shy of third place, posting a score of 297 strokes (+17) on Friday, Sept. 25. Dartmouth tied with Loyola Maryland and finished behind Princeton, which recorded 296 (+16), Seton Hall at 295 (+15) and champion Harvard at 289 (+9). With all eight Ivy League programs in the field, Dartmouth placed third among its conference rivals.
"Sad for the rain out but know our kids are getting better as we go," said Rich Parker, the Bill Johnson Head Coach of Men's Golf. "Really fun group who want to learn and get better. Can't wait for Lake Placid next week."
Benjamin Wang earned an individual top-10 finish for Dartmouth, tying for sixth. A week after tying for 13th at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate, Wang carded a 72 (+2), four strokes behind individual medalist Alex Zhang of Harvard, who shot 68 (-2). Scoring came at a premium on the par-70, 6,659-yard layout, where only three players in the field finished at even par or better.
Tyler Brand was next up for the Big Green, tying for 12th at +4 with a round of 74. Luke Harper followed closely behind, tying for 21st after posting a 75 (+5).
Christopher Chang tied for 28th at +6, and Jordan Takai rounded out Dartmouth's scoring five, tying for 36th at +7. Colin Keith, competing as an individual, finished 68th at +19.
