WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The Dartmouth men's golf team finished third out of 12 teams at the Metropolis Intercollegiate, which concluded Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Metropolis Country Club.
The Big Green posted a three-round score of 876 (+36) with rounds of 289, 293, and 294. Dartmouth finished just one stroke behind Holy Cross, which took second at 875 (+35), and nine behind champion Iona, which won at 867 (+27). The Big Green held off North Dakota State and Bryant, who tied for fourth at 880 (+40).
"Wrapped up a very competitive fall season for us today," said Rich Parker, the Bill Johnson Head Coach of Men's Golf. "Tough conditions out there but we hung in there battled until the end. Tyler and Ben lead the way for us and finished +8 for the tournament which was good for T-6. Luke followed close behind at +10 and secured a T-13. Chris finished with two great rounds and finished at +15 good for T-31. Rounding out the team Jordan came in at +20 finishing at T-51. It was a fun and competitive season for the guys. We were right there in contention in all four events. That's all you ever want as a coach is for your kids to have a chance and we did and we will continue to. Couldn't be more excited for the final chapter come spring. Go Big Green!"
Dartmouth got off to a strong start, carding a 289 (+9) in the opening round, the lowest team score of the field in round one.
Benjamin Wang and Tyler Brand paced the Big Green, each tying for sixth at 218 (+8). Wang recorded rounds of 72, 75, and 71, while Brand turned in rounds of 73, 71, and 74.
